Density - Physics Flashcards

1
Q

How to determine the density of irregular solid objects

A
  1. find the mass of the object using a balance
  2. Fill a eureka can with water, a eureka can has a spout, so water can flow out of the can
  3. place the object into the water. this will cause water to displace and flow out of the spout
  4. measure the volume of water displaced, the volume is the same as the volume of the object
  5. use the density equation

Q

how to measure the density of a regular object

A
  • use a balance to measure the mass
  • regular objects have dimensions which are easy to measure with a ruler
  • multiply all the dimensions
    do mass / volume
