Density Flashcards
What is density?
Density is an object or substance’s mass divided by its volume.
What is the formula for calculating density?
The formula for calculating density is Density = Mass ÷ Volume.
What are the units used for measuring density?
The units used for measuring density depend on the units used for mass and volume but are usually kg/m³ (if mass is measured in kg and volume in m³).
How does the density of a substance affect how heavy it feels?
The more dense a substance is, the heavier it feels.
How is density used to compare substances?
If two substances with different densities are mixed, the less dense substance will float to the top.
How does the density of different types of wood vary?
Different types of wood have different densities, and hardwoods generally have a greater density and would feel heavier than softwoods.
