Density Flashcards
how do you calculate density if you HAVE mass and volume
D= m/v
how to calculate volume
V= (l)x (w) x (h)
what do i do if the mass is in kg
multiply it by 1000 to covert it into grams
find the density
v= 15.0 mL
m=40.5 g
D=m/v
=40.5 g/ 15.0 mL
=2.7 mg/mL
find the density
m=306.0 g
v=22.5 mL
D=m/v
= 306.0 g/ 22.5 mL
=13.6 g/mL
how do i find the mass is i have density and volume
m= dxv
how do i find the density of an irregular object
get a graduated cylinder and fill it up to your desired amount which will be V1 then put the object in. that will be V2 subtract V2 from V1 to find the overall volume. to find mass weigh the object and then canulate for density normally
find the density
V1=45.50 mL
V2= 49.10 mL
m= 28.5 g
V final= V2-V1
= 49.10 mL - 45. 50 mL
= 36 mL
D= m/v
= 28.5g / 36
=792 mL/g
