What was the first split in Christianity? What was it’s outcome?
The Great Schism in 1054. It split Chritianity into Catholics (Those who wanted to keep traditions) and Orthodox (Those who wanted a change and disagreed with some traditions).
After the Great Schism, what was the next big split in Christianity?
The Protestant Reformation in 1517. However the spilt was within the Catholic Church, with many angry Christians such as Martin Luther to want change such as no more indulgences (paid sheets of paper which frees people from sin to go to heaven).
Why and when was the Church of England started?
The Church of England was started in 1534 by King Henry VIII because he wanted a divirce from his first wife ‘Catherine of Aragon’. To add on King Henry VIII made alot of money from this denomination and the leader of it is passed through the royal family. Whoever sits on the throne is the Head of the Church of England.
