Q

Demo-Perf not reccomended

A

as a primary means of imparting cognitive (knowledge) or affective (attitudinal) learning. Demo is not very efficient in transmitting purely knowledge.

Q

Supervised Performance

A

This can also be called practiceIn performing motor or mental skill, the importance of practice cannot be over-emphasized.Practice without feedback tot he student about the quality of the practice performance can be worse than no practice at all.

Q

EvaluationKey factors

A

What to Measure- Analysis of objectives should identify what should be mearsued, list tasks to be performed.Testing Level-The level of testing proficiency should correlate with the stated level of learning for that portion.Test Length-Adequate coverage of the objective is the major factor in determining the size of the test requiredSelection and Arrangement of Test Items- For performance testing, the should follow the same pattern as the other parts of training.

Q

Essential Conditions for Effective Learning

A

Practice- People learn by doing/practiceFeedback- have some way of finding out whether or not the students practice is correct, so the student can take corrective action if needed.Supervision- Aviod letting the student engage in trial-and-error learning; once mistakes have been practiced and learned, they are difficult to unlearn.

Q

Factors to ConsiderAFMAN 36-2236, Demo Perf

A

Lesson Content- Demo perf best for mental or physical skills, but not recommended for congnitive (knowledge) or affectieve (attitudinal) lessons.Evaluation- The objective dictates the evaulation procedureStudent/Instructor Relationship- Instructors must recognize that students learn differently, give as much or as little assistance to each.Time- The majority of time in a Demo-Perf lesson should be devoted to supervised practice

Q

Factors to ConsiderAFMAN 36-2236, Demo PerfCont..

A

Equipment and Materials- Instr should have all equipment/handouts prior to lesson start.Student role- Many skill cannot be performed on an individual basis and teams or partners must be assigned.Group Size- Ensure all can see demo, and group must be small enough for instr to effectively supervise.Instructor Expertise- Considerable proficiency in the skill being demonstrated is critical to the success of this method.
