What is meant by campaign finance?
-raising and spending of money intended to influence a political vote.
What is meant by factions?
-An organized group of people within a larger group.
-opposes some of the ideas of the larger group and fights for its own ideas

-said to begin when a candidate formally announces their plans to run for office.
-opportunity to find base of support.

-private group that raises and distributes funds for use in election campaigns.

-concerns the system of government by political parties in a democratic country.
What is a professional group?
-seek to represent their own group in society
-can include business and trade groups.
What is meant by a single interest group?
-campaign for a particular cause/ issue.
What is meant by soft money?
- money donated to political parties in a way that leaves the contribution unregulated.
What is meant by hard money?
-political donations that are regulated by law through the Federal Election Commission

-A PAC that is allowed to give an unlimited amount of money to a candidate or political party.

-Christian political factions characterised by a strong support of traditional, conservative values.
-Seek to influence public policy on their interpretation of bible.
What is meant by a delegate?
-being given delegated power from a higher authority.
What is meant by a pressure group?
-A group in which tries to influence public policy and opinions of the public.
What is meant by a political party?
-An organisation which coordinates candidates to compete in a particular countries election.
-Members usually have the same ideologies and policy goals.
