What is delegated legislation?
Undemocratically made law created by unelected bodies to whom parliament has delegated legislative power
Examples of unelected bodies
- government ministers
- local authorities
- certain companies (e.g. British Airports Authority)

parent/enabling Act of Parliament
What are the 3 types of delegated legislation?
- By-laws
- statutory instruments
- Order by Council
What are by-laws?
Laws made by local authorities to deal with local issues

Who makes statutory instruments?
Government ministers
What can statutory instruments include?
Detailed information which is too complex to be included in an Act of Parliament
Examples of detailed information that statutory instruments can include
- annual change to minimum wage
- Chemicals Regulations 2009

What does Privy Council consist of?
- previous PMs or cabinet members
- current or former members of the HoL or the HoC
What does the Privy Council do?
- work with the King to make a Privy in Council
- meet roughly every month
