delegated legislation
A
- a law made by the same person or body other than, but with the authority of, the parliament
- creates framework of the law

advantages
A
- time saving: quicker to pass and amend that an Act of Parliament, which must be debated and passed by both houses
- policy over detail: better for Parliament to focus on wider issues of policy than detail
- speed: allows for a quick response in an emergency

disadvantages
A
- undemocratic: gives power to individuals and takes the decisions away from the democratic process
- rick of sub delegation: legislation is made by people other than those who were given power initially
- lack of publicity: tends not to be under the same public scrutiny
