Degree of a term Flashcards
Describe a degree of a term
its the power(exponents) of the variable for example 7/2x^3 the degree of a term is 3
Polynomial what is it
A polynomial means many numbers its a term or a sum and dfference of many terms. It includes adding and subtracting an example is -2x^2+5x-7 it has three terms with adding and subtracting
Descending order what does it mean
Its hen you rearrange a polynomial from highest to lowest degree term for example -2x^2+5x-7
Degree of a polynomial what is it
Highest degreed term for example 10y^4+7/2x^3-x+2
Create a polynomial that does all characteristics (its a binomial, its a degree of 2, lead coefficent of -3)
-3x^2+5
Create a (trinomial, that has a degree of 4 and a lead coefficent of 7)
7x^4+x+2
Determine the degree of polynomial, determinethe lead coefficent determine the coefficent of x^2 term
-5x^4+10^3-x^2+6^7
Degree Poly is 7 lead coefficent of 6 and odf x^2 term is -1
Find the degree of poly, the lead coefficent, and x^2 term. 3/4x-2/5x^2+4/3x^3+1/2x^2+1
Find out x^2 there are two of them
solve for both x^2 terms 2/5x^2 and 1/2x^2 find LCD which is 10 multiply both top and bottom subtract fractions you get 1/10x^2
4/3x^3+1/10x^2+3/4x
Simplify Polynomials Combine like Terms 5x^2+7x-3-2x^2+2x+7
5x^2 -2X^2= 3X^2
7X+2X=9X
-3+7= 4
3x^2+9x+4
if x=-3 Evaluate the Poly 2x^2-3x+4
Seeing an x subsitute it with -3 take as PEMDAS
2(-3)^2-3(-3)+4
2(9)-3(-3)+4
2(9)=18 - (-9)+4
= 18+9+4= 31
Adding Polynomials (2x+5)+ (3x+4+)
Combine Like Terms 2x+3x=5x 5+4=9
5x+9
Solve (2x^2 –1/x+3) = ( x^2+4x-5)
2x^2+x^2= 3x^2 4x-x=3x 3-5=2
=3x^2+3x+2
Solve ( -4x^2+3x-2)+(7x^2+6x-5)
-4x^2+7x^2= 3x
3x+6x=9x
-2-5= -7
=3x^2+9x-7
Solve (2/5x+1/3)+ (1/4x-1/2)
2/5x+1/4x= 8/20
1/3-1/2= 5/20
8/20x+5/20x= 13/20x
1/3- 1/2= 2/6 - 1/6=- 1/6
= 13/20x - 1/6
Distribution the minus sign -(3+4)
-3 -(+4)= -7
