- Commercial farming - orangutans are becoming exctinct because of palm oil
2

Impacts of deforestation
A
- Soil erosion - soil can become dry and useless
- Loss of biodiversity - eg orangutans and becoming extinct- this reduces tourism
- Contribution to climate change - c02 released into environment, greenhouse gases are released which leads to global warming
3
Q
Economic gains
A
Products eg palm oil and rubber can be exported
Minerals are useful eg gold
Development of land for mining creates jobs
4
Q
Economic losses
A
pollution of water sources
Fires cause harmful pollution
Plants that can help develop medicine can become extinct
