Gravida
pregnancy, regardless of duration, including present pregnancy
Para
prefix - indicates beside or beyond
Primigravida
condition of being pregnant for the first time
Multigravida
condition of being pregnant two or more times
Parturition
the act or process of giving birth
Nullipara
condition of never having delivered an infant after 24 weeks gestation
Grand multigravida
condition of being pregnant 5 or more times
Liquor
amniotic fluid
Cephalic
of, or relating to the head
Breech
indicates baby is positioned with it’s feet or buttocks towards the cervix
Footling breech
when baby’s legs are positioned below baby’s bottom (legs drop into vagina first during birth)
Foetal position
relationship of the identified landmark on the presenting part to the four quadrants of the mothers pelvis
Foetal attitude
relationship of foetal body parts to one another, either flexion or extension
Foetal presentation
determined by the foetal lie & the part of the foetus that enters the pelvis first
Operculum
the cervical mucus plug that blogs the cervix after conception
