Definitions: Chapter 12 Flashcards
Degrees of freedom:
adjusted value of the sample size (N-1/ N-2)
- the number of independent pieces of information remaining after estimating one or more parameters.
Central Limit Theroum:
specifies the nature of the sampling distibution of the mean:
T distribution:
sampling distribution of the t statistic
Effect size:
the difference between two popuations, divided by the standard deviation of either population
mean of x1 subtract mean of x2 / standard deviation of x1
Interval estimate:
range of values estimated to include the parameter
Confidence limits
the limits at either end of an interval, with a specified probability of including the paramater being estimated
Confidence Interval:
an interval, with limits at either end, having specified probability of including the paramater being estimated ?!
