Active Euthanasia
Direct way of killing, ensuring the patients death
Passive Euthanasia
The patient is allowed to die, not directly killed
Voluntary
It has been requested by the patient
Non Voluntary
The patient who is euthanised is incapable of making the decision for themself so someone has made it for them
Involuntary
To ease inevitable suffering of a person that would want to live is killed by another person
Palliative Care
The medical, emotional and spiritual care aimed at reducing suffering rather than curing the person who is suffering
Living Will
A document from someone who has a diagnosis that if they become so I’ll that they are unable to communicate their wished that they can rely on the document as to how they should be treated, for example if they wanted their life machine to be turned off if they were in a vegetated state
