Project
A temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result.
Project Management
The application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to the project activities required to meet the goals and requirements of the project.
Operations
Represent those ongoing and repetitive endeavors that do, not meet the elements of a project.
Program
Represents the logical grouping and coordination of projects, programs, and subprograms managed in a coordinated way to obtain on benefits not available from being managed individually.
Project Management Office (PMO)
An entity that serves as the central project coordination unit for an organization. The PMO can be referred to as simply the project office, program management office, or program office.
Portfolio
A collection of investments held by an organization or an individual.
Project Portfolio Management (PPM)
A project management approach that treats groups of components (projects and programs) as organizational investments.
Portfolio Management
The act of ensuring that the organization is working on the right things.
Scope
Defined objectives; scope is progressively elaborated.
Change
Project managers expect change; implement change management, and control processes.
Planning
Progressively elaborate high-level information into detailed plans.
Management
Manage project team to meet team objectives.
Success
Measured by product and project quality, schedule, budget, and customer satisfaction.
Monitoring
Monitor/control work of producing products, services, or results of project.
Role of PM
Knowledge - what the PM knows about the project management discipline.
Performance - what the PM is able to accomplish while applying project management knowledge.
Personal - the behavior of the PM when conducting project duties such as attitudes, leadership, and personality characteristics.
