needs relatedc to thoughts and emotion ex. companions, love belonging
Social Needs
media, friends, family
Asethetic Needs
“looks”- creativity, identity, expression
Spiritual Considerations
can be religion, self enlightenment, close to place of involvement
Lifestyle Needs
exercise equipment, private spaces, etc.
Special Considerations
health related, disabilities (wheelchair), technology (ex. fire alarm with lights for the deaf)
Natural Shelter
created by using surrounding environment for protection
Portable Shelter
shelters that can be taken apart, reassembled and put back together at a new location
Permenant Shelter
a shelter that is built in a location with a good soil and water supply allowing them to live off the land around them and stay in one place
Universal Design
designing interiors and products to accomodate all poeple with a variety of needs, requirements and ablilities
Barrier-free design
living spaces designed without structures that prevent access to people with special needs
Adaptable design
design features that are temporary and can be easily changed.
LICO
stands for low income cut off which is a line where a family is considered poor if they spend more than 63% of their income of basic needs.
Rammed Earth
using compact dirt to build. Traditional style of building.
Written Agreement
allows tenants to rent a property for an indefinite amount of time on a month to month basis.
Landlord
owner of a property who leases or rents it out to a tenant
Lease
legal document transferring the use of a property from one person to another for a specific length of time in the return of payment (rent)
