Political Equality
The extent to which ordinary citizens can influence or exercise authority over decision making and that all people should have an equal influence to all other people
Social Equality
A state of affairs in which all people within a specific social or isolated group have the same status in certain respects
Legal Equality
All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.
Bill of Rights
A type of law that lists the rights of citizens in the country for which it is written. The oldest Bill of Rights comes from the US, and predates the UDHR by almost 200 years. Most importantly, a bill of rights is legally enforceable, unlike the UDHR
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
It began in Paris, 1948. By the United Nations and general assembly. It was set in place to prevent large wars and conflicts as a guideline on basis ways to treat people.
Entrenched Rights
Included in a nations constitution. Therefore difficult to change
Statutory Rights
Law passed through parliament. Easier to change.
Rights
a moral or legal entitlement to have or do something.
Time, Place and Space
Refer to the absolute or relative position of people objects and ideas
Conflict
A serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one
Human Rights
a right which is believed to belong to every person.
Racial Discrimination
Racial discrimination is when a person is treated less favourably than another person in a similar situation because of their race, colour, descent, national or ethnic origin or immigrant status
Constitution
a body of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state or other organization is acknowledged to be governed.
Apartheid
a policy or system of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race.
