Definitions Flashcards
Newton’s 1st Law
The velocity of an object will only change if resultant force acts on it
Newton’s 2nd Law
Resultant F (on object) proportional to rate of change of momentum
Newton’s 3rd Law
If object A exerts a force on object B, object B exerts a force on object A that is the same size, type, but acts in opposite directions along the same line (& acts on diff objects)
Elastic collision
Total kinetic energy is same
Impulse (eq)
F size x time it acts for
Photon model (of light)
electromagnetic radiation treated as discrete quanta with energy E = hf = hc/lambda
Photoelectric effect
Emission of electrons (photoelectrons) from metal surface when electromagnetic radiation (light) above certain f incident
