Ideas supportive of the status-qou, especially capitalist and traditionalist values
The state
Central political authority, including legislative, executive, government and judiciary
Capitalism
An economic system where goods are produced for profit and sold in a free market.
Market of institutions
Organizing their operation in such a way that individual elements have to compete, e.g pupils, school. patients, hospitals, customers
Bourgeoisie
The ruling class in a capitalist society. They hoard the wealth and exploit the poor.
Proletariat
The working class in society forced to sell their labor to survive.
Primary socialisation
Socialization with immediate family, the first form of socialization most people in society experience. Talcott argued teaches specific norms about family and community
Secondary socialisation
Socialization with people outside the family, e.g teachers, friends. Instills societal norms and values at a young age.
