Air carrier aircraft
an aircraft that is being operated by an air carrier and is categorized as:
large air carrier aircraft if designed for at least 31 passenger seats
small air carrier aircraft if designed for more than 9 passenger but less than 31 passenger seats
Air carrier operation
The take off and landing of an air carrier aircraft and includes the period of 15 min before the landing and 15 min after the takeoff.
Airport
An area of land or hard surface, excluding water, that is used for the landing and takeoff of aircraft including and building and facilities.
Airport Operating certificate / certificate holder
a certificate issued under part. 139 for operation of a class I, II, III, IV airport/ AOC holder
Heliport
an airport, or an area of an airport, used or intended to be used for the landing and takeoff of helicopters.

Joint-use airport / Shared use Airport
Joint used- an airport owned by the United States that leases a portion of the airport to a person operating an airport specified under Sec. 139.1(a)
Shared use - A US govt. owned airport that is co-located with an airport specified under part 139.1(a) and at which portion of the movement area and safety areas are shared by both parties.
Movement area
The runways, taxiways, and other areas of an airport that are used for taxiing, takeoff and landing of aircraft, excluding loading ramps and aircraft parking area.
Safety area
a defined area comprised of either a runway or taxiway and the surrounding surfaces that is prepared or suitable for reducing the risk of damage to aircraft
in the event of an undershoot, overshoot, or excursion from a runway or the unintentional departure from a taxiway.
Scheduled operation
any common carriage passenger-carrying operation for COMPENSATION/HIRE that offers in ADVANCE the departure location, time, and arrival location.
DOES NOT include Pt. 121/pt 380 public charter operations.
Average daily departures
the avg number of scheduled departures per day based on the busiest 3 consecutive months in the past 12 months.
Unscheduled operations
any common carriage operation; using aircraft designed for at least 31 passenger seats,
conducted by an air carrier for which the departure time, departure location, and arrival location are specifically NEGOTIATED with the customer or the customer’s representative.
It includes any passenger-carrying public charter operation
conducted under 14 CFR part 380.
