abuse
Any intentional action that harms or injures another person.
active listening
being engages whilst a person is speaking; reflecting back on what is said to clarify the individual’s message.
assertive
Confidently communicating your needs, feelings, beliefs and opinions in a direct and honest manner; being receptive to others’ needs and avoiding intentionally hurting their feelings.
communication
The act of transferring information from one person to another; in relationships, communication allows you to explain what you’re experiencing and needs.
conflict
When disagreeing or having opposing views about an issue or situation; it is unlikely to avoid the conflict.
conflict resolution
Involves establishing rules, identifying the conflict and offering alternative solutions before making an agreement

When someone gives their permission ‘freely and voluntarily’

Having awareness and understanding of the feelings and emotions of other people.
negotiation
Listening and understanding both peoples opinions and perspective and working towards a win-win situation for both people; to agree to disagree.

The capacity or ability to influence the behaviour of others or the course of events; possession, manipulation; authority.
relationship
The way in which two or more people are connected towards each other.
respect
To have due regard for an individual’s thoughts, feelings, choices, opinions, beliefs and rights.

Expectations that an individual should offer to another person.
rights
Moral entitlements that one person should expect from another person.
