revealing theology
This is theology about god which is found and studied through the religious texts.
natural theology
This is theology which is discovered through pure reason.
omnipotent
‘omni’ - all ‘potens’ powerful. All - powerful.
omnibenevolent
‘omni’- all ‘benevolent’ - good. all-good.
omniscient
omni’ - all ‘scienta’ - knowing. all-knowing.
eternal
Meaning he lasts forever outside of time.
everlasting
meaning he lasts forever inside of time
immutable
like ‘mutation’ means changed, God can never be changed, therefore he is immutable (Unchanging)
personal
He cares about every aspect of a person, and knows them extensively.
immanent
He is all around us.
deductive arguments
Arguments where if you accept the premises, you must accept the conclusion, as they follow on logically from each other. E.g., 1 + 1 = 2
inductive argument
An argument where the conclusion is implied from the premises. This means that there can be room for different skeptical interpretation. all the ravens i have ever seen are black. there are ten ravens in London. All of those ravens must be black.
abductive argument
An argument to the best explanation. E.g., I have just come home, and the kettle is on. Therefore, my mum must’ve turned on the kettle before I got home.
ontolological arguments
deductive arguments which aim to prove the existence of God. This means that there is a limited number of ontological arguments we may actually be able to call correct.
