What is primary audience?
The audience that the producers are trying to target
What is brand loyalty
Positive feelings towards a brand and dedication to purchase the same product or service repeatedly now and in the future from the same brand.
What is secondary audience
The audience that goes to see the film but where not targeted specifically
What is the production phase of producing a movie?
The process of organising, financing and making the film
What is the distribution phase of producing a movie?
The process of marketing or getting a film to the audience
What is the circulation/exhibition phase of producing a movie?
Where and how texts and shown/available to the audience
What does media ownership mean?
When a media company buys out and/or ‘owns’ another media company.
What does synergy mean?
When seperate companies work together to make/sell a product and share the profit
What does a media institution mean?
A media institution is the company responsible for the production of a media text. E.g. Warner bros
What does a tent pole film mean?
A big film that is expected to make lots of money for a studio. Ths money is then distributed out to fund the production/distribution of more films
What is Strauss’ theory?
A pair of related terms or concepts that are opposite in meaning. (Binary opposits)

What is an action code?
Sequences of events in which actions happen which creates the next action. (A person picks up a gun and then we understand that he may shoot the gun next)
What is an enigma code?
Elements of the story that aren’t fully explained and become a mystery to the audience
What is Vertical integration?
Where a company takes control of all or several apsects of the filmaking process (production, exhibition, distribution). Maximises profits - increases creativity
What is intertextuality?
Where charcterters from other forms of media are seen in other movies, can make people choos to watch as they recongnise someone they like from a different form of media.
