Definitions Flashcards
Approved
Sanctioned for use by the head of ETO
Card Safe
A Lockable device for the secure retention of Safety Document(s) and associated Safety Key(s)
Charged
At a Voltage when Isolated from the System by induction or retained charge due to capacitive effect
Circuit Identification
Colours or Symbols used to identify Overhead Line circuits and other Equipment
Consent
Confirmed by the Control Person (Safety), before the issue of a Safety Document, that the safety precautions have been carried out on the correct Equipment and that the procedures have been put in place to maintain these until the Safety Document has been cancelled
Danger
A risk to health, or bodily injury
Dead
Not Electrically live or Charged
Earthed
Connected to earth by means of an Earthing Device
Earthing Device
A means of providing a connection between an electrical conductor and earth, being one of the following, Primary Earth and Drain Earth
Primary Earth
A Type registered fixed or portable Earthing Device applied to an electrical conductor to protect against inadvertent energisation
Drain Earth
A Type registered fixed or portable Earthing Device applied to electrical Equipment for the purpose of protection against Charged Equipment and management of circulating current
Earthing Schedule
A Schedule indicating the Drain Earth requirements for each stage of the work
High Voltage
a Voltage Exceeding 1000 Volts
Impressed Voltage Conditions
Impressed Voltage conditions is the collective term for conditions such as induced voltages or currents, differences in earth potential or voltage differences across any break in conductive path.
Coupling Mechanisms are as follows
- Capacitive Coupling
- Inductive Coupling
- Conductive Coupling
- Trapped Charge
Isolated
Disconnected from associated Equipment by the operation of an Isolating Device to the Isolating position or by an adequate physical separation which shall ensure the isolation gap can not fail electrically
