Hypothesis
Proposed explanation, usually on limited evidence
Premise
A statement used to support a conclusion
Conclusion
A statement supported by premises
Main conclusion
A statement supported by all premises in the argument and to not used support any other statement in the argument
Intermediate conclusion
A statement supported by one of the premises in the argument and that is used to support the argument’s main conclusion
Example,
A specific instance illustrating a point in the argument
Counterargument
A broaden term than counterexample
Counterexample
A specific instance undermining a point in the argument ( name, date, illustrating instance)

A statement the author tries to undermine ( found counterarguments)
Claim
A statement
Background information
Statements that provide context for the reader but do not directly support the argument’s conclusion
Analogy
A comparison, usually a instance specific used to support a conclusion
Thesis

Thought experiment
A hypothesis laid out for the purpose of t thinking through consequences
