The carrier on which the passenger departs from the connecting point.

ACCEPTING/ RECEIVING CARRIER
Services sold in behalf of an airline with the issuance of a separate traffic document.
ANCILLARY SERVICES
Passengers who land at their point of destination.
ARRIVING OR LANDING
PASSENGERS
Articles, effects and other personal property of a passenger which are necessary for wear, use, comfort, or convenience in connection with his trip.
BAGGAGE
The airline that takes the passenger from a particular boarding point
BOARDING AIRLINE
The point where the passenger is scheduled to embark on a flight.
BOARDING POINT
The seat accommodation held for a passenger in advance on a given flight.
BOOKING RESERVATION
The airline which the passenger made his reservations with This may the airline that made the original reservations, or the one which the passenger contacted en route to request changes in the reservations.
BOOKING AIRLINE
Baggage hand carried by the passenger in the cabin. This compromises all personal articles other than the allowed carry-on items needed by the passenger during flight.
CABIN / HAND CARRIED BAGGAGE
A flight that will definitely not depart or arrive as scheduled on that day.
CANCELLED FLIGHT
Means the transportation of persons or property by air, with or without remuneration, including all incidental services.
CARRIAGE
Pertains to the airline/s. e.g. Philippine Airlines, Inc.
CARRIER
That part of passenger’s baggage which the carrier took sole custody during carriage and for which it issued corresponding baggage claim checks.
CHECKED BAGGAGE
Means applicable laws, regulations, procedures and restrictions that govern the transport of passengers / items by air.
CONDITIONS OF CARRIAGE
Refers to a passenger holding a confirmed ticket on a particular flight but is not listed in the Passenger Name List
(PL. This type of inconvenienced passenger is also known as OKNOREC (NO RECORD) passengers.
CONFIRMED UNMANIFESTED
PASSENGER
Means two or more tickets concurrently issued to a passenger and together constitute a single contract of carriage.
CONJUNCTION TICKET
The station en route where the passenger has to change aircraft either with the same airline or with a different airline.

CONNECTING POINT
A type of delay where the ETD/ETA are changed more than once subsequent to announcement of initial rescheduled departure/arrival times owing to difficulty in rectifying the cause of delay.
CREEPING DELAY
Standard regulations equipment issued by the company to flight deck and cabin crew. The contents of which are limited to clothing, personal effects and other items which are reasonably necessary in the performance of the functions for the duration of their assignment.
CREW BAGGAGE
The area where passengers declare to authorities with the use of Customs Declaration Forms the contents and value of the items brought into the country.
CUSTOMS AREA
Articles or substances which are capable of posing a risk to health, safety, property or the environment. These items are enumerated and classified in the Dangerous Goods Regulations.
DANGEROUS GOODS
A flight that is unable to depart or arrive as scheduled and consequently rescheduled at a later time.
DELAYED FLIGHT
The airline that takes the passenger to his interline point, stopover point or destination
DELIVERING AIRLINE
An amount payable to passengers holding confirmed reservation on a flight but was denied boarding due to overselling.
DENIED BOARDING
COMPENSATION
A passenger who in spite of having confirmed reservations was not taken in the flight due to overselling.
DENIED BOARDING PASSENGER
The point at which the passenger is scheduled to disembark from a flight of the boarding airline.
DEPLANING POINT
A person who has entered a country either legally or illegally) and who now has been formally ordered by the authorities to be removed from the country.
DEPORTEE
Refers to a flight that deviates from its published route and lands at an airport other than its scheduled destination or airport of origin.
DIVERTED or REROUTED FLIGHT
Means the ultimate stopping space of the passengers according to the contract of carriage.
DESTINATION
A passenger who arrives on one flight and departs on the same aircraft and/or flight.
DIRECT TRANSIT PASSENGER
Refers to a flight that deviates from the published route and as a result, returns to the airport of origin or lands in a alternate airport other than its airport of destination.
DIVERTED FLIGHTS
A passenger taking a flight for the first time.
FIRST RIDER
A stop which is not part of the regular route for the purpose of offloading passengers and/or cargo.
FLAGSTOP
When used in the Interline Reservation context means 10 or more passengers traveling together excluding infants.
GROUP
Where passengers present to immigration officers their passports, visas, E/D(embarkation or departure cards) and other documents.
IMMIGRATION AREA
A passenger who has arrived in a country on a flight, but is refused admission by the authorities of that country.
INADMISSIBLE PASSENGER
Minor or less than two years of age.
INFANT
Carriage within the same traffic conference. e.g. PR898 from TC3-MNL to TC3-TPE
PR210 from TC3-SYD to TC3-MNL
INTRA-CONFERENCE CARRIAGE
Carriage area or area to another. e.g. PR898 from TC1-SFOto TC3-TPE
PR210 from TC1-NYC to TC2-LON
INTER-CONFERENCE CARRIAGE
When used with another word, it describes anything involving two or more airlines.
e.g. interline itinerary, interline point, interline reservations, interline transactions, etc.
INTERLINE
Baggage of a passenger that was tagged according to his itinerary involving two or more airlines.
INTERLINE BAGGAGE
Changes in the passenger’s itinerary brought about by flight disruption.
INVOLUNTARY RE-ROUTING
The sum of all portions of a passenger’s journey, from the beginning to the end, even though separated by a gap or gaps.
ITINERARY
Refers to passenger who presents himself for check-in at the airport on the day of the departure but is unable to board the aircraft.
LEFT BEHIND PASSENGER
A passenger who is in contact with the local office of an airline, either directly, through another person, through a travel agent, or through the local office of another airline.
LOCAL PASSENGER
Passenger who needs to be met and assisted upon arrival due to some special assistance they need.
MAAS PASSENGER
A condition where the passenger misses his/her connection due to the late arrival or cancellation of his/her delivering flight.
MISCONNECTION
A passenger who arrives at a station after his connecting flight has departed. He is given the option to either:
* wait for the next available flight, or;
% get accommodated on another airline without additional cost to the passenger.
MISCONNECTED PASSENGER
A passenger who boards the wrong flight and ends up in a destination other than his. The airline has the responsibility to:
put the passenger on a direct flight to his destination, or
send the passenger back to his origin where he can take his original flight.
MISROUTED PASSENGER
Is a passenger who presents a ticket that indicates reserved space. The airline however, has no record of the reservations.
NO-RECORD PASSENGER
A passenger with a confirmed space but fails to show up for the check-in or boarding for gate no-show.
NO-SHOW PASSENGER
The airline operating in the first portion of an itinerary of a passenger.
ORIGINATING AIRLINE
The situation when there are more seats reserved in a flight than its seating capacity.
OVERBOOKING
The situation when there are more seats sold in a flight than its seating capacity.
OVERSALE
Is any, person except member of the crew, carried or to be carried in an aircraft with the consent of the carrier.
PASSENGER
A record maintained and controlled by the airline which contains the passenger’s travel requirements and history.
PASSENGER NAME RECORD (PNR)
A delay that is known 12 hours or more prior to the estimated time of departure.
PLANNED/ANTICIPATED DELAY
The notification by teletype, commercial wire or mail, that a person in one city has requested issuance of prepaid transportation for another person in another location.
PREPAID TICKET ADVICE (PTA)
Is a multilateral agreement of IATA member airlines of dividing layover expenses of connecting passengers.
PRORATION
Area where CAA doctors check the health cards of passengers to see it they have necessary shots or vaccinations.
QUARANTINE
A procedure requiring the passenger to advise the airlines of his/her intention to use the space reserved for him
RECONFIRMATION
An unscheduled stop of a flight in a place that was not included in its flight route.
REROUTED / DIVERTED FLIGHTS
A flight which did not continue its journey and instead returned to ramp. Departure may be reset to a later time or may be cancelled.
RETURN FLIGHT (FLIGHT DISRUPTION)
A passenger who is returning to his resident country where he is not a citizen of.
RETURNING RESIDENT
Is a passenger traveling and seeking admission in a country only to join a vessel docked in that country.
SHIP’S CREW SEAMAN
Baggage on stand by for carriage due to excessive volume of baggage/cargo load.
STANDBY BAGGAGE
A potential revenue passenger who presents himself/herself at a designated check-in location, and who is prepared to travel if space is available.
STANDBY GO SHOW
A deliberate interruption of a journey of a passenger at points between the place of origin and destination which is agreed in advance with the airline.
STOPOVER
A passenger who is unable to travel in a regular cabin seat and must be accommodated in the aircraft in a horizontal position.
STRETCHER PASSENGER
A process in check-in where the passenger is checked-in all the way to his final destination.
THROUGH-CHECK
A passenger who stays in a place to connect to another flight for his final destination.
TRANSIT PASSENGER
A transfer passenger who arrives within two hours before
ETD of his connecting flight.
IMMEDIATE CONNECTING
PASSENGER
A transfer passenger who arrives from 2 to 6 hours before
ETD of his connecting flight.
STAY-IN PASSENGER
A transfer passenger who arrives more than 6 hours before
ETD of his connecting flight but departs within the same day.
WASH-UP PASSENGER
A transfer passenger who’s connecting flight departs on the following day from his arrival.
LAYOVER PASSENGERS
a passenger who is allowed entry into the Philippines for a stay of 21 days or more without a visa approval provided holding onward tickets.
NON- RESTRICTED NATIONAL
a passenger who is not allowed to enter the Philippines without a valid visa.
RESTRICTED NATIONAL
The area in the Airport Terminal where passengers wait for their connecting flights.
TRANSIT LOUNGE
Is a transiting passenger who is continuing his journey to a third country, even when a change of airline is involved, without requiring a visa for such passenger provided the conditions of the particular country on transiting without visa are adhered to.
