Interdependence is the theory that nations depend on each other economically, politically, socially and environmentally. Many contemporary societies are now classed as interdependent as they rely heavily on the decisions of other countries, meaning they would struggle and be detrimentally affected without them.
Economic Interdependence
TRADE- more nations participate in international trade, more access to products and services. Countries rely on other countries to supply their needs and buy exported products
EMPLOYMENT- jobs generated in new areas. Labour provides a workforce which allows countries to develop
TNC’s and Investment- TNCs operate in several countries. Invest in developing countries, bring technology, employment and infrastructure
Political interdependence
INTERGOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATIONS- global systems are supported by international organisations eh IMF and World Bank facilitate international capital flows and WTO
SECURITY & STABILITY: Globalisation will lead to greater political stability. Nations co-operate more

HEALTH- WHO
EDUCATION- Increase in student foreign exchange programmes
CULTURE- Social ties between countries strengthened through migration. Eg, large Indian diaspora settled in UK has deepened country’s relationship with India

GLOBAL COMMONS- all countries interdependent due to shared resources in oceans and atmosphere
