Define ‘Cosmology’
The scientific study of the universe and it’s origins
Define ‘Genesis’
The first book of the Hebrew bible
Define ‘Fundamentalist’
In Christian terms, somebody who takes the bible literally and believes it valid as both a religious and historical document.
Define ‘Liberal’
In Christian terms, somebody who interprets the Bible has a series of myths, each with an important moral meaning. Whether or not the events actually occurred are irrelevant to Liberals.
Define ‘Humanist’
A Humanist is an atheist who believes that morality, happiness, and fulfillment comes from humans, rather than appeasing a deity
Define ‘Secular’
Secular means where religion is separate from something. A secular school would be a school that does not condemn nor encourage religion, that simply does not involve religion.
Define ‘Evolution’
Evolution by natural selection is the process in which species randomly mutate over time and those with mutations that benefit their survival in their environment, reproduce and live, while those who don’t go extinct
Define ‘Big Bang’
The Big Bang is a scientific theory that claims to explain the origins of the universe. It says that the entire universe was once in a highly compressed and hot state, and billions of years ago, it expanded.
Define ‘Ethics’
Ethics (or morality) is the study of right and wrongand why things are right and wrong… or, whether right and wrong exist at all.
Define ‘Science’
A system of systematically acquiring knowledge based on empirical observations
Define ‘Empirical Observation’
Things observed using your senses
Define ‘Interpretation’
Interpretation is how somebody chooses to look a piece f evidence or information.
