What is a trend?
Something that tells you what has been happening over a period of time. (A general movement or pattern)
How do you measure a populations health status?
Country v country, location eg rural v city, gender, age and in Australia indigenous v non indigenous.
Define health status?
An individual’s or a populations overall health, taking into account various aspects such as life expectancy, amount of disability and level of disease risk factors. (AIHW 2008)
How do you measure an individual’s health status?
Fitness tests, BMI, blood tests, urine, blood pressure.
WHO?
World Health Organisation.
What is intellectual development?
The development of processes in the brain, such as thought, knowledge and memory.
What is physical development?
Change in the body and system can be in size (growth).
Complexity (i.e. Increase of complexity in nervous system).
Motor skills (learning to walk).

Fertilisation -> Birth Roughly takes 38 wk to complete. Most uncertain period in lifespan. One cell to over 200 Billion Fastest growth period. Organs, structures and growth occur.
Infancy info?
Birth -> age 2 Rapid growth and development. Use simple words. Identify familiar people. Play social games. Throw tantrums.
Early Childhood info?
Age 2 -> Age 6 Slow and steady growth. Gain many new skills Social interaction w/ others. Toilet use. Eating with adults at table.
Late Childhood info?
age 6 -> age 12
