Denial
Reality is ignored and you tell yourself false things
Repression
Painful moments can fade in your memory unconsciously. Momentary memory lapses to forgetting traumatic moments
Suppression
Bad feelings/moments are consciously suppressed
Projection
Putting the blame on someone else, most of the time weaker or lesser than you
Displacement
Anger against someone you shouldn’t be angry at
Reaction formation
Reacting so something/someone the opposite way that you feel
Regression
Abandon all other coping ways and go to wining/cry/complaining
Fixation
Oral fixation includes people who smoke, bite nails and chew gum when nervous
Identification
Taking on characteristics of someone else
Rationalization
Using false logic to convince themselves that things are the way they should be
Isolation
Allows bad or fearful moments to become part of your memory and conscious mind
Sublimation
Channeling your feelings into someone like sports
Compensation
Putting extra effort into something to compensate for feeling inferior
