DEFENITIONS Flashcards
Category A Helicopter
Multi-engined helicopter, capability for safe flight or safe rejected take-off in the event of engine failure.
Category B Helicopter
Single-engined or multi-engined, no capability for safe flight in the event of engine failure.
LVP
Low Visibility Procedure. Aerodrome procedures for safe operation when conditions are lower than cat-I
LVO
Low Visibility Operation. Needs approval from authorities.
LVTO
Low Visibility Take-off Operation. RVR<400 m, but not less than 75m
Congested area
City, town or settlement. Substatially used for residental, commercial or recreational purposes.
CDFA
Coninous Descent Final Approach. Non-precision, stabilised approach, without leveling off.
FATO
Final approach and take-off area. Aera where final phase of the approach to hover, and take-off manouvre is commenced. Includes rejected take-off area for PC1.
Hostile environment
Area where;
- Safe forced landing is not possible
- Occupants is not protected from the elements.
- SAR is not available within exposure time
- Risk of endangering persons or property on the ground
- Overwater N of 45N an S of 45S
- Over congested area with no forced landing area
LDP
Landing Desicion Point. Point from where, in the case of OEI, a landing may be safely continued or balked landing initiated.
MOPSC
Maximum Operating Passenger Seating Capacity. Crew seats not included.
NPA
Non-precision approach. MDA or DA(CDFA) not lower than 250ft, and RVR not less than 600m
Performance class 1
If OEI, is able to land or safely continue the flight.
Performance class 2
If OEI, a forced landing may be required.
Performance class 3
A forced landing may be required in a ME-helicopter, and will be required in a SE-helicopter.
