What is a point defect?
A
one atom in the lattice is vacant or dislocated

What happens when energy is applied to a point defect?
A
When an energy is applied to the right, an anion might move to the left to fill the vacancy spot. This causes the ion on the right of it to fill the vacancy and so on.

a defect may cause a collision between an electron in the conduction band and a hole in the valence band
