Deep Back Muscles Flashcards
Learn origin, insertion, innervation, and action of muscles.
Spenius capitis origin
Nuchal ligament;
Spinous process if C7-T3 or T4 vertebrae
Splenius capitis insertion
Mastoid process of temporal bone;
Lateral thirs of superior nuchal line (occipital bone)
Splenius capitis innervation
Dorsal rami
Splenius capitis action
Ipsilaterally laterally flexes and rotates head/neck;
Bilaterally extends head/neck
Splenius cervicis origin
Nuchal ligament
Spinous process of C7-T6 vertebrae
Splenius cervicis insertion
Tubercles of transverse processes of C1-C3 vertebrae
Splenius cervicis innervation
Dorsal rami
Splenius cervicis action
Ipsilaterally laterally flexes and rotates head/neck;
Bilaterally extends head/neck
Iliocostalis origin
Arises by a broad tendon from posterior part of iliac crest;
Posterior surface occipital?
Iliocostalis insertion
Lumborum/thoracis/cervicis
Runs superiorly to angkes of lower ribs and cervical vertebrae
Iliocostalis action
Ipsilaterally laterally flexes trunk;
Bilaterally extends trunk
