A large aggregate of people united by a state.
Nation-State
A state whose territory corresponds to a particular ethnicity it inhabits.
Self-determination
The concept that ethnicities have governing rights over themselves.
Multiethnic State
A state that contains more than one ethnicity.
Multinational State
A state that is multinational and coexists peacefully.
Colony
A territory that is legally tied to a sovereign state rather than completely independent.
Colonialism
An attempt by one country to establish settlements with their views.
Imperialism
A policy of extending a country’s power and influence through diplomacy or military force.
Boundary
A line that marks the limit of an area.
Frontier
A zone separating two states in which neither states exercise political control over.
Physical boundary
A naturally occurring boundary between two states.
Cultural boundary
A boundary that divides differences in traits of ethnicities.
