Q

What is the Sinner circle?

A

4 key elements that are required for a successful cleaning process
Energy, temperature, time and chemicals
Increasing or decreasing any of these will impact the efficacy of the process

Q

What kind of water should be used for sterilisation?

A

Tap water cannot be used
Purified water must be used as it is distilled, de-ionised, reverse osmosis and sterile

Q

What is deionised water?

A

Produced by passing water through an ion exchange that picks up things such as sodium, calcium and potassium

Q

What different detergents are used and why?

A

High and low alkaline detergent for enclosed processes (not in contact with skin)
Enzymatic detergent breaks protein down into smaller particles (used in ultrasonic and manual washing)
pH neutral detergent is less harmful to operators skin (used for manual washing but can be used in WD too)

Q

Describe the chemical make up of detergents

A

Hydrophilic and hydrophobic ends
Hydrophobic end never contacts water
This is where the contamination is drawn to and then flushed away as the hydrophilic end attaches to water molecules
