A

SCCM and CM transfer to portable oxygen and gain emergency access to the flight deck in case of emergency incap.

What should you hear from the cap (Public Announcement) after GSS?

What do you do when hear a positive PA?

A

Positive PA from the cap will tell you the descent is complete OR it’s a “step descent.”

When you hear the announcement, you transfer to the nearest portable oxygen.

A

You will descend in steps, not gradually.

How do you transfer to portable oxygen?

A
  1. Seat belt off, stand up.
  2. Grab the next hanging oxygen BEFORE removing yours.
  3. Replace yours with the next one.
  4. Repeat until you get to your alert station.
  5. Put on hanging oxygen at your alert station.
  6. Remove stowed oxygen bottle.
  7. Put it on like a guitar.
  8. Turn to full or high flow.
  9. Check tube to make sure it’s flowing.
  10. THROW the other one off and put on your portable.
  11. Check your partner THOROUGHLY.

What do you do if your alert station is near a toilet and the alarm has sounded?

A
  1. Turn alarm off.
  2. Feel door with back of hand (checking for heat).
  3. Cautiously check inside.

A

Walk down the isle checking welfare of passengers (masks and seatbelts) giving reassurance.

How do you learn it’s ok to remove oxygen?

What is the process once you learn oxygen can be removed?

A

SCCM will telecom all crew members and you will do a roll call.

  1. Turn bottle off.
  2. Restow.
  3. Check passengers’ welfare.
  4. Tell them it’s ok to come off oxygen.
  5. Walk up and down cabin looking for structural damage.
  6. Individually call back SCCM to report.

How do you remove an incap pilot?

A
  1. Stand behind seat
  2. Hold head to the back of the seat.
  3. Release seat mechanism.
  4. Pull seat with pilot all the way back.
  5. Release controls to secure seat.
  6. Move pedals forward.
  7. Strap him in.
