A solid red light means…?
STOP , you can only turn at a red light if there is not a “no turn on red” sign. You must yield to all vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Only turn when safe
A red arrow means…?
“STOP” and remain stopped until a green traffic signal or green arrow appears. DO NOT turn on red arrow
A flashing red light means…?
“Stop” after stopping you may go once safe.
A solid yellow light means…?
“CAUTION” the light is about to turn red. If you can’t stop safely, cautiously cross the intersection.
A yellow arrow means…?
“Protected” turning time is ending and the signal will change soon. If you can’t stop safely or are already in the intersection cautiously complete turn.
The next possible signals after a yellow arrow may be…?
- green traffic signal
- red traffic signal
- red arrow
A flashing yellow light means…?
Warning to proceed with caution. Slow down and be alert before entering the intersection.
A flashing yellow arrow means…?
You may turn but it isn’t protected from other traffic. Yield and wait for oncoming traffic/pedestrians.
A solid green light means…?
“Go” but you should still stop for any vehicle, bicyclist, or pedestrians in the intersection.
A green arrow means…?
“Go” you must turn the direction the arrow is pointing.
Blackout signal means…?
Traffic signal light not working and stop at the intersection as if it is controlled by “stop” signs
Red stop sign
Make full stop before entering crosswalk or limit line
Red yield sign
Slow down and be ready to stop if necessary
