Servers
Computer networks must have at least one powerful computer to provide services for the network users.
File server
To store and provide files to the users.
Web server
Uploads and distributes web pages to the internet.
Database server
Provides database services to other computer users.
Backup storage
Storing data on external memory such as a hard disk to prevent complete loss of data from corruption or theft.
Firewall
Monitors data traffic and is a set of rules that will protect data from unauthorised access.
Printers
Produce hard copies of computer data, can be attatched to a single computer or a network so that they can be shared.
Network infrastructure
Ethernet cabling and fibre optic cabling.
Network interface card
Attatched to motherboard, allows computer to connect to network using ethernet cabling.
Hub
A hub connects many ethernet cable equipt devices to a network.
Switch
Like a hub but transfers data more efficiently to the line output, rather than every line.
Wi-Fi router
Acts as a wireless access point.
Point of sale systems
Are used to help the retailer to complete sails transactions, including taking payments from customers.
Kiosk system
A cabinet used by customers of the theatre containing hardware.
Ticket scanners
used by staff of the theatre to quickly read codes on customers tickets.
