13
Q

Provide an overall summary of Experimental & Control groups.

A

The control group provides a ‘baseline’ or standard against which the researcher can compare the performance of the experimental group in order to determine the effect of the IV on the DV.

16
Q

What does IV stand for?

A

Independent Variable

17
Q

What does DV stand for?

A

Dependent Variable

18
Q

Describe an Independent variable and identify the group that receives the IV.

A

An Independent variable are those that are manipulated by the experimenter to assess its effect on the participants response. A group of participants that receive the IV are known as the experimental group.

19
Q

Identify the group that does not receive the IV.

A

The group that does not receive the IV is the Control Group. They are in the Control Condition.

20
Q

Describe a Dependent Variable.

A

Dependent Variables show any effects of the Independent Variable, these are measured.
