Q

Ephesians 6:12

A

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

We expect peace in our society, but we are at war. Our enemy is the Devil. He battles us subtly, in our politics and entertainment and justice system. We struggle with greed and sexuality and hate and on and on.
Jesus is pro-war, but not with bullets and drones. The struggle is not against people: it’s against Satan and his demonic forces (“the powers”)

Q

Matthew 7:3

A

Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

Scarcity mindset pits us against each other. We each want our fair share and compete with our neighbors for it. But God’s love is not scarce - it’s infinite. We can all have as much as we need.

Q

Matthew 7:11

A

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

We imagine what good gifts are, but when we give our heaets to the Lord we see what He sees as good. The ultimate treasure is a relationship with God. Part of the problem with prayer is the disconnect as what we see as good. But as you walk in the way of the Lord you begin to change your view in what is truly good.

Prayers that are not answered can change our relationship with prayer. It’s at these times that we need to Knock. Not just ask. Feeling loss or failure, we need our Father the most.

Q

Matthew 7:15

A

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Be aware of what pulls away from Jesus.

Where are we drawing our confidence from? From our relationship with Christ or from our doctrine?

Q

Matthew 27:46

A

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

17
Q

Psalm 55:6-8

A

6 And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest;
7 yes, I would wander far away; I would lodge in the wilderness; Selah
8 I would hurry to find a shelter from the raging wind and tempest.”

Unanswered prayers give us doubt, but we need to identify what we are doubting: the goodness of God as our Father. It’s important to know we are not the only ones to receive no answers to our prayers - the greatest no answer in history was from Jesus.

18
Q

Exodus 4:1

A

Then Moses answered, “But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, ‘The LORD did not appear to you.’”

What-ifing the plans of God. Before God uses you he will disturb you.

19

23
Q

Matthew‬ ‭5:14-16‬

A

14 You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

24
Q

James‬ ‭1:26-27‬

A

26 “Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

25
Q

Matthew‬ ‭25:35‬

A

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,”

26
Q

Matthew‬ ‭25:40‬

A

The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

27
