What is Male Sex Cell?
Sperm

Gametes (eg. sperm, ovum)

Gonad
What is the male gonad?
Testicles
What is the female gonad?
Ovary
What is an embryo?
From fertilization to 60 days.
What is the 9 month period of development of a embryo called?
Pregnancy or gestation
When is a embryo considered a fetus?
After 60 days from fertilization.
In what time span does a female produce ova?
Ova are produced from the onset of puberty to menapause.
Besides producing ova, what happens in females beginning with the onset of puberty?
Development of secondary sex characteristics. Eg. Body hair, breast development, and structural changes in bone and fat.
What happens to the male at the onset of puberty?
Development of secondary sex characteristics eg. Deepening of voice, body hair, penis growth, muscle development etc
What is fertilization?
Fertilization takes place when the sperm and the ova meet, usually in the Fallopian tubes.
What happens if fertilization does not take place?
Hormone changes which result in the shedding of the uterine lining and bleeding aka mensturation occurs.
What two hormones are important to mensturation, pregnancy and in the development of secondary sex characteristics?
Estrogen and Progesterone
From what organs are female hormones excreted?
Ovaries and Pituitary gland.
