deciduous teeth Flashcards
1
Q
order of erruption
A
incisors, 1st molar, canine, 2nd molar
2
Q
do mandibular or maxillary teeth erupt first?
A
mandibular
3
Q
order of exfoliation
A
incisors, 1st molar, canine, 2nd molar
4
Q
when is the high peak attack of caries
A
13 years old
5
Q
T/F primary teeth are completely finished for only 1-2 years before root resorption starts.
A
True
6
Q
What are some differences between primary and permanent teeth?
A
- Crowns are wider in comparison to length than perm.
- Anterior roots are narrower and longer in comparison to perm.
- Roots of molars are longer and flare more so that perms can develop
- Cervical ridges of anteriors are more prominent
- crowns and roots at cervix are more slender
- less pigmented giving a white appearance (milk teeth)
7
Q
Pulp chambers and canals
A
- Enamel is thin w/ a consistent depth
- dentin is thin as well
- pulp horns are higher with large pulp chambers
- primary roots are narrow and long
- Roots of molars flare more
8
Q
Maxillary central incisor Labial view
A
- MD measurement is greater than cervicoincisal which is opposite in permanents
- labial surface is very smooth
- incisal edge is nearly straight
- Root is cone shaped
- Root length is great in comparison to crown length
9
Q
Maxillary central incisor lingual view
A
- well developed marginal ridges
- highly developed cingulum extending into concavity sort of dividing it into fossae
- Root narrows lingually
10
Q
Mesial and distal views of max. central
A
- crown appears thicker at middle third and even on the incisal third
- Less curvature of cervical line
- roots show even taper
- pronounced cervical ridges.
11
Q
Incisal view of max central
A
- ridge is centered over main bulk and is straight
- labial surface is broader and smoother than lingual surface
- lingual surface tapers toward the cingulum
12
Q
Maxillary lateral
A
- similar to central only smaller
- cervicoincisal length is greater than mesiodistal width
- root appears longer in comparison to the crown.
