Describe the influence of the Javanese gamelan music.
A
The opening contains gong-like fifths. (Gongs are essential Gamelan instruments).
The chords feature added notes, avoiding straightforward triads, and recreating gamelan melodies.
Melodies are influenced by the pentatonic scale such as the Javanese Slendro scale.
The ostinato theme in bars 3-4 only uses four different notes. This is equivalent to the melodies a metallophone might play in the gamelan.
Speeds vary a lot.
