(Laertes death)
Laertes acceptance of his death/ his fault.
LAERTES:“Why, as a woodcock to mine own springe, Osric. I am justly killed with my own treachery”
Accepts that you get what you give – sees the irony in his death being that of the one he intended for Hamlet and shows the destructive nature of revenge.
(Hamlet death)
Horatio speaks of his friends nobility and bravery in his final breaths.
HAMLET:“Now cracks a noble heart”/“Bear Hamlet like a soldier to the stage”
Horatio mourns the death of his friend and as the only one to understand him it is fitting he is the one to send him to heaven.
Fortinbras nobly praises Hamlet and orders for him to be treated with respect.
(Claudius Death)
The justice of his death/ killed by his own poison.
CLAUDIUS:“He is justly served, it is a poison tempered by himself” (Laertes) Hamlet manages (finally) to avenge his father.
(Queen death)
L recognises that G death is the fault of the king/ like source of all wickedness in court.
QUEEN:“The king, the king’s to blame” (Laertes)
Recognises that Claudius is the source of all this death.
(Ophelia death)
not allowed a christian burial/ to seek her own salvation.
OPHELIA:“Is she to be buried in a Christian burial when she wilfully seeks her own salvation?”
‘Sweet Ophelia’ comes to a sorrowful end, lost and rejected by God.
(Polonius death)
H comically moving the guts of P.
POLONIUS:“I’ll lug the guts into the neighbour room”
Somehow his death maintains a comical side that sums up his character
