D.C Circuits Flashcards
1
Q
Define Electromotive force
A
Electromotive force of a source is the energy transferred per unit charge through the circuit.
Emf= energy transferred in source/ charge
2
Q
State the difference between Emf and Pd
A
Electromotive force:
• Energy supplied by source/charge
• Other forms of energy to electrical energy
Potential Difference:
• Energy used by components/ charge
• Electrical energy to other forms of energy
3
Q
State Kirchhoff’s 1st Law (KCL)
A
The sum of currents entering any point of a circuit is equal to the sum of currents leaving the same point.
4
Q
State Kirchhoff’s 2nd Law (KCL)
A
The sum of E.m.fs around any closed loop in a circuit is equal to the sum of P.ds around the same loop.
