DC Circuit Flashcards
Current of series circuit
Current at any point of the circuit is the same
Potential difference of series circuit
Sum of potential differences across all components in a series circuit is equal to potential difference across the whole circuit
Resistance of series circuits
Total resistance of the circuit is the sum of all the resistances of the components in the circuit
Disadvantage of a series circuit
Current will cease to flow if there is a break anywhere in the circuit
Current of parallel circuits
Current from the source is the same as currents in separate branches of the parallel circuit
Potential difference of the parallel circuit
Potential difference across each branch of a parallel circuit is the same
Advantage of parallel circuits
- The components in a parallel circuit receive a larger power as compared to a series circuit.
- The rest of the components can continue to work even if one of the components breaks down
Disadvantage of parallel circuits
- A larger current will be drawn from the source
2. Power of the source depleted more quickly
Transducer
Electronic devices that respond to changes in physical conditions to convert non-electrical energy to electrical energy or vice versa
(Thermistors, light-dependent resistors, thermocouple)
