Q

What are the three modes of CHT?

A
  • Inport: Sewage and grey water are collected in main CHT. Pump Controller switches are placed in Auto for discharge to a shore/ barge facility
  • Transit: While transiting a restricted zone, sewage is diverted to the tank and Grey water is diverted to the overboard position. Pump controller switches are in the OFF position
  • At Sea: Sewage and Grey water are diverted overboard. Pump Controller switches are place in the AUTO position

Q

How many Ballast tanks are there? And how are they drained/ filled?

A
  • 85 BALLAST TANKS ONBOARD. 69 FIFTH AND SIXTH DECK TANKS, 16 THIRD DECK TANKS
  • 3RD DECK TANKS ARE FIRE MAIN FILLED AND GRAVITY DRAINED DUE TO BEING ABOVE THE WATERLINE.
  • 5TH AND 6TH DECK TANKS ARE BELOW THE WATERLINE SO THEY ARE GRAVITY FILLED AND BLOW OUT WITH DBAC’S.
  • TO FILL 5TH AND 6TH DECK TANKS YOU NEED TO OPEN SEA VALVE, SHUT BLOW, AND OPEN VENT.
  • TO DRAIN 5TH AND 6TH DECK TANKS TO NEED TO OPEN BLOW, SHUT VENT, OPEN SEA AFTER PRESSURE BUILD UP
