Explain sky component geometry on a working plane

Answer 1

A solid angle is formed between a spot on the working plane and the window. This solid angle projects out onto the sky. The working plane will be receiving sky component light from the regulangular projection of that area of sky only. Sky component is measured by height of window over distance from window. The absolute figures do not matter.

Explain the geometry of when the working plane is above the window ledge.

Answer 2

Only the proportion of the window above the working plane can contribute to the sky component. The area below can contribute to the externally and internally reflected components.
