Day 3 - Kinematics Flashcards
It is the change of position of an object that requires magnitude and direction.
Displacement
It is the measurement of how far you travelled over a period of time. It is also known as the speed with direction.
Average Velocity
The velocity at a specific instant of time or specific point along the path.
Instantaneous Velocity
It is the rate at which velocity changes.
Acceleration
The acceleration at a specific instant of time.
Instantaneous Acceleration
An airplane accelerates down a runway at 3.20 m/s^2 for 32.8s until finally lifts off the ground. Determine the distance traveled before takeoff.
d = 1720m
A car starts from the rest and accelerates uniformly over a time of 5.21 seconds for a distance of 110m. Determine the acceleration of the car.
a = 8.10 m/s/s
Upton Chuck is riding the Giant Drop at Great America. If Upton free falls for 2.60 seconds, what will be his final velocity and how far will he fall?
d = 33.1m Vf = 25.5 m/s
A race car accelerates uniformly from 18.5m/s to 46.1m/s in 2.47s. Determine the acceleration of the car and the distance travelled.
a = 11.2 m/s/s d = 79.8 m
A bike accelerates uniformly from the rest to a speed of 7.10m/s over a distance of 35.4m. Determine the acceleration of the bike.
a = 0.712m/s/s
