Day 1 Chromosomal Abnormalities 1 Flashcards

1
Q
  1. Describe the events in meiosis that produce genetic variability among offspring.
A

1) Independent Assortment of maternal and paternal chromosomes
2) (Recombination during Meiotic Prophase 1): Crossing Over: During prophase 1 of meiosis 1, homologous pair of chromosomes cross over and often share genetic information, creates diversity by allowing genes from each parent to intermix, thus resulting in new genetic complement
