  • can be easily manipulated, so not an accurate representation of the place
  • intended audience could make data unreliable (untruthful)

Why might qualitative data be useful in showing sense of place?

A
  • interviews provide opinions held by insiders, these cannot be obtained by quantitative data
  • artistic expressions show the artists sense of place (however, only one person’s perspective may be a misrepresentation)
